2023 AUSTRALIAN CLUB CHAMPIONS!

Want to try outrigger canoe paddling?

If you’ve never paddled before, or if you have in the past and just want to dust off the cobwebs…

Contact us, come down to Mooloolaba and give it a go!

Your first 6 sessions of paddling (from the date of your session) in an OC6 are free.*

Junior social/novices (aged 10-19 years) please contact Sunshine Coast Junior Paddling Development (who race nationally as Mooloolaba OCC) for more information.

Are there any requirements?

You must be able to swim competently in the ocean. We train in all conditions in exposed waters and you will get wet!

Where do I go?

The MOCC club house is located at the Mooloolaba Marina on Parkyn Parade – to the right of the commercial shops and on the other side of the Marina shower and laundry block.

What do I bring?

We will provide paddles and safety gear for social/novice paddlers. However, please be aware we paddle in the open ocean in varying conditions much of the time. If you are not a strong swimmer (cannot swim a minimum 400m or tread water for 10 minutes) and need to wear a Type 1 PFD while paddling, you may wish to bring your own compact model.

The club will only provide the bulky yellow ‘brick’ type for emergency situations. Please see our Safety page for more information.Bring clothes you don’t mind getting wet – board shorts, rash shirt or anything quick-drying – plus a hat, drink bottle (ideally with a bottle holder that straps around your waist), sunscreen and sunglasses, if you wish.

However, please don’t bring or wear anything in the canoe that you would be devastated to lose to the ocean! It’s also always good to bring a change of clothes, a towel and maybe even a plastic bag to throw your wet gear into.

* For social/novices who have not been an AOCRA member for at least three years.
